Displaced worker receives 85K money claims through SEnA

The downturn caused by COVID 19 pandemic affected a lot of employees due to downsizing, retrenchment, and temporary or permanent closure of companies.

Recognizing their needs amid this pandemic, DOLE-RO No. VI unceasingly provides help to displaced workers.

In Roxas City, Capiz, an affected worker was grateful when DOLE-RO No. VI made a successful intervention in his Request for Assistance (RFA).

Utilizing the Single Entry Approach (SEnA), DOLE-RO No. VI through its Capiz Field Office facilitated the payment of the worker’s 13th month pay and separation pay which amounted to eighty-five thousand three hundred eighty-two pesos and 50/100 (Php85,382.50).

The company he is working with is engaged in poultry supply business. Due to the pandemic, it suffered a financial downturn because most of their major retailers cut short their regular orders. This caused financial loses and the management decided to reduce manpower. As such the concerned employee lost his job.

The affected worker filed a Request for Assistance for the release of his money claims. Through the mediation of SEnA Desk Officer Engr. Jessel V. Valad-on, the settlement was reached in less than two weeks.

“Considering the number of workers affected by COVID 19, the Regional Office is doubling its effort to address the requests for assistance. We aim to resolve cases in the shortest time possible, expedite the release of money claims of the workers and maintain peace and harmony in the workplaces,” said DOLE-RO No. VI Regional Director Cyril L. Ticao.

The worker extended his heartfelt gratitude to DOLE.  Both parties parted ways peacefully and continue a friendly and pleasant relationship.
