Garment production project flashes signs of development

A fruitful outcome welcomed DOLE-RO No. VI Regional Director Cyril L. Ticao during his visit to the Garment Production Project for Marginalized Women of Poblacion, Nueva Valencia, Guimaras.

RD Ticao noticed positive changes to the livelihood project. “Before, they only produce pot holders and doormats. Now they are into uniforms and shirt production. This is a sign of development.”

The observation of RD Ticao was confirmed by Amelita Peñafiel who is a beneficiary. “Ang proyekto nakabulig gid, parehas kahapon kag subong, nakabaton kami sang bayad halin sa nagapa-repair,” (The project helped a lot. For instance, we have income doing repair works for walk-in customers for the past two days.) revealed Ms. Peñafiel.  She added that bulk orders and productions are also coming in.

“Through these sewing machines, the beneficiaries earn for every piece of work or a percentage of the income of the association for every project,” explained Labor and Employment Officer Anthony Felmo Silveo. He also suggested that a maintenance slip should be kept to keep tract of the condition of the equipment.

DOLE-RO No. VI provided one (1) zigzagger machine, two (2) electrical and four (4) manual sewing machines to the twenty (20) beneficiaries. The DOLE outlay capital for the said project amounted to Php250.000.00.
