Negros Occidental - DOLE Region 6 Director Ponciano M. Ligutom today reported that another local government unit (LGU) Public Employment Service Office (PESO) is up for institutionalization within the year as a result of his dialogue with the local chief executive on June 28.

He told the mayor that this would be his legacy to his people when his term ends.
Valmayor was very receptive to the proposal and he immediately gave his commitment to establish the PESO in his municipality. He also instructed his PESO manager to start working on it.
San Carlos City is the third LGU in Region 6 whose chief executive committed to establish the PESO this year. The other two were Antique province and LGU-San Jose in Antique.
Region 6 has a total of 161 PESOs –Iloilo has 52, Antique-22, Capiz-20, Aklan-18, Negros Occidental-43 and Guimaras-6, Of this number, only two are institutionalized, Sagay City in Negros Occidental and Banga in Aklan.
The PESO is face of the DOLE in the local level. It facilitates the delivery of employment programs and services to the people in the locality. Its institutionalization is been pushed by the DOLE to the LGU to make it more functional.
