DOLE 6 funds short-term jobs for disadvantaged, underemployed Guimarasnon

Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Region 6 Director Johnson G. Cañete turned over last August 10, 2017 a check amounting to P691,236.00 to Guimaras Provincial Governor Samuel T. Gumarin for the implementation of Emergency Employment in Support to Ecological Balance Enhancement Project  in that province.

 

This project is intended to provide 15 days short-term work to around 134 disadvantaged/displaced and underemployed workers from the municipalities of Buenavista, Jordan, Nueva Valencia, Sibunag, and San Lorenzo, Guimaras while supporting the provincial government’s effort to attain the province’s mission to become an agri-eco tourism capital of Region 6.

The fund released will be used to pay the salary and purchase the personal protective equipment of the workers, such as long sleeve shirt, buri hat and face towels.

 

Gumarin was so thankful to the DOLE regional leadership for the livelihood assistance extended to his province.

 

 

Canete replied that it is through their vigorous effort that the proposal for this project with ecological component was approved and funded.
